Context

Developed as a Product Design project at SCAD in 2020, this study explores the growing crisis of "digital graveyards" the millions of social media profiles and terabytes of personal data left behind by deceased users.

Problem

With 8,000 Facebook users dying daily, $31 billion in digital assets are currently at risk of being lost, deleted, or locked away. Users lack the awareness and tools to manage their digital estates, leaving grieving families with the stressful, technical burden of recovering fragmented data that often fails to reflect the true personality or stories of the deceased.

Solution

I designed a mobile platform that syncs across social accounts to centralize digital mementos. Using AI-driven filtering and voice-narration features, users can "voice-tag" memories and designate legacy contacts. This transforms a cold data-management task into a warm, storytelling experience, ensuring that future generations receive a curated "Memory Lane" rather than an unorganized digital archive.

Impact

The project was recognized as the Most Innovative Project of the course, cited for its empathetic approach to a complex ethical and technical challenge. Beyond the award, I developed a comprehensive Service Blueprint and Business Model that addressed a $31 billion market gap. By blending high-trust branding with intuitive UX, the solution demonstrated how design can bridge the "intent-action gap," turning a cold technical problem into a meaningful tool for emotional healing and generational storytelling.
